Gifts and support from new and old friends alike have an enormous impact on our work here in the Neuroscience Research Institute. Your generosity can help us contribute critical solutions to some of the most important biomedical and basic science problems confronting all of us.

Unrestricted Support

Your unrestricted gift provides NRI with flexibility to support unanticipated opportunities and pressing needs with immediate action.

 Targeted Research Efforts

We have major ongoing efforts focused on Alzheimer’s Disease, Autism, Bioengineering, Brain Tumors, Diabetes, Drug Addiction, Kidney Disease, Macular Degeneration and Retinal Detachment, Neural Development, Neuro-Imaging, and Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering. Which is most important to you?

Research Centers

NRI has three Research Centers, which are the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Center for the Study of Macular Degeneration and the Center for Stem Cell Biology and Engineering.

Training & Fellowships

The future of society depends upon the students of today. Help educate and train Graduate, Postdoctoral and Undergraduate Students who will be tomorrow’s scientific leaders.

High Tech Instrumentation

State-of-the-art research requires state-of-the-art instrumentation, ranging from DNA sequencers that can determine the sequence of a human genome to remarkable new microscopes that can image individual molecules. New instrumentation is always being developed and it is a major effort to ensure that it is always available for our many research efforts.

Symposia & Seminars

Reading research articles in journals and on the web is an important route for staying abreast of work by our colleagues, but there is no substitute for meeting face-to-face. Support for Distinguished Lecture Series seminars presented by internationally-renowned scientists, to be held here at UCSB, is an indispensable component of our ability to promote the efforts of UCSB research teams and to train the next generation of scientists.

Endowed Faculty Chairs

One of the most important types of gifts to higher education is an endowed chair, for an endowed chair ensures faculty excellence.

Named Buildings & Laboratories

These "bricks and mortar" projects are permanent reminders of the commitment of our major donors and their families to ensuring UC Santa Barbara's excellence for future generations.

Annual Contributions

Annual Contributions of $1000 or more qualifies you for membership in the Chancellor’s Council at the University of California, Santa Barbara. UCSB has consistently ranked among the top American universities for the impact of its research programs in both the sciences and humanities. Your gifts will help us to maintain our excellence and expand our many contributions to society.
