Position Description

A part-time Assistant Project Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Soojin Yi to conduct research on the genomic and bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequencing data including DNA methylation, single cell epigenetic and RNA-seq, and bulk tissue RNA-seq data. The data are likely from, but not limited to, from human and nonhuman primate species. The appointee will work with the PI and UCSB to establish computational infrastructure and pipelines to transfer, manage and analyze the data. The applicant will also perform troubleshooting, data processing, data managing, uploading and downloading data and codes to public domains, assist with statistical analysis and graphic processing. The appointee will be expected to make significant conceptual contributions to the project. Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

A doctorate degree in Genomics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience in performing genomic and bioinformatic analysis of mammalian data.

Preferred qualifications

A very solid research and publication record. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with both computational scientists and biologists. In addition, experience in devising computational pipelines is preferred. Research experience in human genetics and genomics, and single cell data are preferred.
