Our laboratory is housed within the Biological Sciences II building, being a part of the Neuroscience Research Institute, an interdisciplinary research unit at the University of California at Santa Barbara. The Principal Investigator, Dr. Benjamin E. Reese, is a Professor in the Psychology Department, holding an adjunct appointment in the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. The Psychology Department offers a graduate training program in Neuroscience & Behavior leading to the Ph.D. The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology offers graduate training leading to either the M.A. or Ph.D. degrees, permitting specialization in developmental and neurobiology. Within the Neuroscience Research Institute, there are a number of other laboratories pursing vision and retinal research with whom we share facilities and often collaborate, including those of Drs. Jerry Jacobs, Steven Fisher, Don Anderson, Linc Johnson, Dennis Clegg and Stu Feinstein. Two research centers dedicated to the study of diseases of the nervous system, the Center for Macular Degeneration, and the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, are also housed within the NRI.
